International Women's Day party in the Czech Home

The women of Czech Beseda Rijeka organized the International Women's Day party on March 6 in the Czech Home in Rijeka. Of course, they were not the only ones at the party – they brought along their husbands and other male members of the society and also invited their friends from the Slovak society in Rijeka.

About twenty Slovak guest did not come empty handed. They brought sweets and good mood, but also prepared a very nice program. Before the program, president F. Husak welcomed everyone, and S. Herceg reminded everyone that on March 7, 1850, exactly 160 years ago, Tomas Garrique Masaryk was born in Hodonin. He was Czech philosopher, teacher and politician, and in 1918 he became the first president of Czechoslovakia. The Czech people of Rijeka proudly named their Home after this great historical figure.

The Slovak society singing group sang several beautiful Slovak songs, followed by Slovak town dances performed by their dancing group dressed in original historical costumes. Czech Beseda Rijeka singing group Nostalgia sang a few Czech songs heating up the atmosphere in the hall to the level everyone expected. Later everyone had dinner, danced and sang long into the night. It was a nice, friendly and relaxed evening for all members of both these friendly societies.
