Czech Beseda Treglava visited Rijeka
Members of Czech Beseda Treglava visted Czech Beseda Rijeka on July 26 and 27. The Czech people of Rijeka visited Treglava on many occasions in the past, and now that they have a home to welcome their guest in, they could finally return the favor.
Guest from Treglava arrived in Rijeka on Saturday morning and spent the nice summer day at the beach. In the afternoon they came to the Czech Home for a get together and to prepare for the evening performances.
The official part of the visit started at 8 PM. First, president of Czech Beseda Rijeka Mrs. Fanika Husak welcomed all guests and the numerous audience. President of Czech Beseda Treglava Mrs. Alenka Havelka thanked the hosts for the invitation to the beautiful new Czech Home and announced the coming performances that would show only a small part of what this hard-working society has learned over the years.
The honor to start the program went to the youngest, children's dance group. Despite their youth, the children showed high quality and precision in their dances. After them, singing group and the main dancing group took turns on the stage. A short break followed to allow for the stage to be set for the amateur theatre play. During this break, the guests handed presents from their bountiful hometown to their hosts – traditional harvest wheat garland and baked pork as a contribution to the dinner that followed after the drama play.
As usual, the party went on until late in the night. The guests from Treglava spent the night in the Czech Home and took another trip to the beach the following morning. They left Rijeka on Sunday afternoon, with promises to prolong the cooperation and friendship between the two Besedas.
