Contracts for financing the work of national minority Councils and representatives in Primorsko-goranska County signed in the Czech Home
Primorsko-goranska County head, Mr. Zlatko Komadina, met with Council presidents and representatives of national minorities on March 7 in the unfinished Czech Culture Center building. They signed contracts for financing the activities of national minorities in the year 2008. National minority Councils will receive 28,000 Kuna each, and representatives 17,000 Kuna each. On behalf of their Council, the presidents of Roma, Albanian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, Serbian, Italian, Slovene and Hungarian minorities signed the contracts, as well as the representatives of Macedonian, Slovak and Czech minorities. Mr. Branko Škrobonja, head of the County Department, also participated, as have other representatives of County offices.
After Mr. Komadina was shown around the Czech Home building, the youngest folk dance group of Czech Beseda Rijeka gave a short performance. President of CB Rijeka, Mrs. Fanika Husak, and representative of the Czech minority at the County, Mr. Anton Rehak, welcomed all guests. Mr. Komadina greeted the audience and thanked CB Rijeka for their hospitality and organization of the ceremony. He continued to say: "It is lovely to be here. I believe that the next time we meet, the building will be completed. During my last visit we were over viewing Kvarner from open terraces, and now the building has taken its final shape. This home will serve not only to the Czech minority, their guests and friends, but also to other minorities of Rijeka for their culture events. I am happy to see that different minorities are treating each other as members of a family, not noticing the differences in nationality, religion, or any other aspect. I am proud of our multiethnicity and multiculturality. I am happy that we met here today. This way, we can see that the building is not completed and that, regardless of the 600,000 Kuna we already gave for this building, we have to keep helping to install heating and everything else that has not been done yet."
After that, the contracts were signed and glasses with Czech champagne were raised. All guests stayed a little longer to socialize and enjoy the fabulous cakes members of CB Rijeka baked.
