Visit of the Czech ambassador
Mr. Karel Kühnl, the Czech ambassador to Croatia, came to Rijeka on February 3. It was his first visit to Rijeka since the beginning of his term in Croatia, on the invitation of the mayor of Rijeka, Mr. Vojko Obersnel. Besides the official program of the visit, the ambassador walked through the Rijeka old town, witnessed the majestic 25th international carnival parade, and visited the members of Czech Beseda Rijeka in their new Czech home in Rijeka. About 20 Czech people of Rijeka spent three pleasant hours in the company of the new Czech ambassador. They took the opportunity to tell him about the activities of Czech Beseda Rijeka and to show him around the entire unfinished building of their new Home. Mr. Kühnl was delighted with what he saw, gave a few suggestions about finishing and using the rooms in the Home, and completed his knowledge of the work of Czech Beseda Rijeka. At the end of his stay in the Czech home, Mr. ambassador arranged another meeting with the Czech people of Rijeka after his official meeting with the mayor of the city of Rijeka and the head of the Primorsko-goranska county.
