Folklore review "Our Spring" in Kaptol
"Naše jaro" (Our Spring) is a show of the work of the youngest members of Czech minority organizations in Croatia. It is always an impressive presentation and a guarantee that Czech minority in Croatia will keep nourishing Czech songs, dances, language, amateur and puppet theatre. The sixth review of children's theatre, puppet and reciting groups took place on June 8th in Končanica. Students from 10 schools (Czech schools and schools where Czech language is taught) performed at the review.
The folklore part of "Naše jaro" took place on Sunday, June 17, in Kaptol. Children's groups from five schools and eleven Czech besedas participated in the program. Czech Beseda Rijeka was represented by dance group "Male ribice" lead by Snježana Husak and Vladimira Marinković. They danced two dances: The Cobbler and The Bear. Some of the parents escorted the young dancers on their long journey from Rijeka to Kaptol. Mrs. Maja Ružička, mother of the dancer Matea, wrote:
"It is Sunday, June 17, 9 AM. We have a long journey ahead of us, but in good company time flies. After a few movies and some fun we came to our destination – Kaptol. The children couldn't wait to show what they have diligently rehearsed. Just before the performance some fear, a bit of stage fright appeared. How will it all turn out, will it be OK? But, as soon as the music started, little feet started skipping happily on the stage. They gave their best and danced better than at any rehearsal. Their appearance was over, and their little faces glowed with joy and big smiles. Lunch, well-deserved ice cream, and we hit the road again. Goodbye Kaptol, see you next year!"
