A visit from Ostrava
Mr. Petr Kutěj, mayor of Vitkovice by Ostrava visited Czech Beseda Rijeka on Saturday, September 30, with his wife Maruška and friends. After a pleasant get-together at Beseda president Mrs. Husak, where they spoke about past and future cooperation with Czech Ostrava, our guests took the opportunity to see the unfinished building of the Czech Home. Vitkovice donated the iron for this building. They were pleasantly surprised to see the progress that was made during the 4 months since their last visit. "Now that it's got its coat (meaning the facade), it reached its final appearance and is really looking beautiful," said Mrs. Kutějova. Another surprise awaited inside the building – the inside walls and utilities installed in the past few months.
Mr. and Mrs. Kutěj brought gifts, as always. They brought a large box of Czech books sent by Mrs. Karpišekova, the wife of the mayor of Ostrava. We also got beautiful calendars for 2007 and many other presents for the Czech people of Rijeka.
