Song and dance ensemble "Hlubina" from Ostrava visited Czech Beseda Rijeka
The Czech Beseda Rijeka dance group came in contact with ensamble "Hlubina" two years ago, as an extension of cooperation between Czech Beseda Rijeka and the mayors of Ostrava boroughs. The dance group "Riječke Ribice" was a guest of "Hlubina" ensemble at the last year's international folklore festival "Folklore without Borders," where they gave several successful performances.
With help from Czech Beseda Rijeka, "Hlubina" participated as an international guest at this year's central culture event of Croatian Czechs, the Harvest Festival, that took place on July 22 and 23. "Hlubina" gave very successful and well accepted performances at this festival.
At the end of the Harvest Festival, "Hlubina" members did not say goodbye to their friends from Rijeka. About fifty members of this renowned ensemble visited Czech Beseda Rijeka on July 23 through 28. They boarded in Lovran student dormitory, where they could go swimming in the sea and get to know this beautiful Istrian town and its surrounding. During their stay in the area, they also presented their ensemble and spent time with "Ribice" and other Czech Beseda Rijeka members.
On July 25, "Hlubina" gave a performance at the Trsat Fort in Rijeka, and the following day they performed in Omišalj on the island of Krk. They spent their last hours on Kvarner with us, Czech Beseda Rijeka members. They went to see the building of the new Czech Culture Center in Rijeka, that is being build in part with the help of our friends from Ostrava. After that, they joined us for a dinner and a party on Pehlin. Promising this will not be our last get-together, friends from Ostrava said goodbye to "Ribice" and other Czech people of Rijeka, and started their journey home in the late evening hours.
