Rijeka premiere of Moliere's "Poor Husband"
Theatre amateurs of Czech Beseda Rijeka have rehearsed the play "Poor Husband" by French classicist playwright Moliere. Jirka Matković adapted the play for our group, and Željko Milde and Fanika Husak directed it.
The play featured: Franjo Sedláček, Nataša Veltruská, Libor Pokorný, Herta Tadić, Božo Selichar, Zdenka Blažek, Jirka Matković and Josef Růžička. Marija Dmejchal was the prompter.
The audience, delighted by the sound acting performance and humorous content, gave the actors a great applause. The overall impression was enhanced by the beautiful contemporaneous costumes borrowed from the National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc in Rijeka. The actors were seriously impaired by the unfitting (very small) stage in the Pehlin Culture Home, impatiently awaiting performances on the large stage in the new, as yet unfinished, building of the Czech Home. We wish our actors-amateurs many reprise performances on other stages, in other Croatian towns populated by Czech minority.
