Czech Beseda Rijeka annual assembly
Regular non-elective annual assembly of the Czech Beseda Rijeka was held on Sunday, April 2, 2006. More than half of all Beseda members were present, as well as some guests – representatives of other minority groups active in Rijeka. Working presidency, made up of president Anton Rehak and members Vera Pavlić and Darinka Milde, lead the assembly. There were no representatives of the Czech Union in Croatia, nor journalists from the weekly magazine Jednota that reports of all actions of Czech groups in Croatia.
After accepting the agenda and electing the assembly working bodies, Beseda president Mrs. F. Husak gave a report of actions taken in 2005. Plan for 2005 was accomplished in full, Beseda’s cultural work was praiseworthy, and the construction of the Czech Culture Center exceeded the plan. President Husak especially thanked all Beseda members that worked on the construction, naming all of them individually, because their priceless contribution made the building grow even faster than we planned.
Snježana Husak, leader of the three folk dance groups, gave a report of their work in the past period. The conductor and leader of the singing choir Anton Rehak spoke of their accomplishments, and Snježana Herceg, editor in chief, spoke about the news bulletin "Our Word" and the development of Czech Beseda Rijeka web site. Darinka Milde gave the financial report, Dušanka Selichar report of the supervising committee, and Slavinka Tesar informed the assembly about membership payments.
Propositions of changes in supervising and executive committees were accepted at the assembly. The president of the supervising committee D. Selichar accepted the new function of committee secretary and became a member of the executive committee, while the former secretary D. Milde became the president of the supervising committee.
President Husak suggested the new action plan for the following period that was unanimously accepted. Dance groups, amateur theatre and the singing group will traditionally perform at "Etnosmotra," a festival of minority groups active in Rijeka, "Trsat Days," "St. Vitus Days," and other events in Rijeka and Primorsko-goranska County, as well as all events organized by the Croatian Czech Union. Our dance and signing groups will also perform in the Czech Republic, at the "Bread Basket" exhibition in České Budějovice. In Rijeka, we will welcome folklore group "Hlubina" from Ostrava and singing choir "Záboj" from Pelhřimov, as well as some of Czech Besedas active in Croatia. We will host "Krajanské zpěvánky," an event of the Croatian Czech Union. We will keep publishing the bulletin "Our Word" and updating our web site. On the construction site of the Czech Home, electrical wiring and plumbing will be installed, as well as central heating, depending on available financing.
After the official part of the annual assembly, the amateur theatre group performed the play that they gave at the festival of Croatian Czech amateur theatres in Lipovac near Daruvar. The day ended with plentiful refreshments prepared by our members.
