Anniversary party of the Czech Beseda Lipovac, involving CB Rijeka
The Czech village of Lipovac near Daruvar celebrated the 70th anniversary of the forming of Czech Beseda and 50th anniversary of existence of Czech school on July 2nd. An exhibition was opened on this occasion, where the people of Lipovac presented their recent activities. Let us mention just a few facts: in 1980, the first theatre play of the town’s Czech amateur theatre was performed. Later, with help from musicians from Daruvar, operettas were played here. A singing group existed from 1965 until 1975, and was restored in the year 2000. Czech minority manifestations, such as harvest festivities and amateur theatre festivals, were held in Lipovac. A Czech Home was build, and recently renovated, and Czech School students achieved very good results in further education and activities within the Czech minority.
The final celebratory program was to be held in the open as a public festivity, but the bad weather forced it into the Czech home main hall and stage. Many significant guests from political and cultural life were present, including Croatian Parliament representative for Czech and Slovak minorities Ms. Zdenka Čuhnjil and the President of the Czech Union in Croatia Leonora Janota. The President of the Czech Beseda Lipovac and a local school teacher Drahuška De Bona spoke about the activities of the local Czech Beseda and Czech School. After that there was a rich program that included: Daruvar marching band, little dancers from Lipovac, narrators that recited poems about their home town, folk dancing group "Perlice" of the Czech Beseda Lipovac, singing group "Lipovačke djevojke," dancers from Doljani, singers from Daruvarski Brestov, folk dancing group "Holubička" of the Czech Beseda Daruvar, female choir "Kateřiny" from Bjelovar, and signing group "Nostalgia" from Rijeka.
