Czech Culture Days in Bjelovar
An event called "Czech Culture Days" took place on May 3 and 4 in Bjelovar. Sponsors of the event were the City of Bjelovar, Bjelovarsko-bilogorska County and the Czech Union in Croatia. For this event, the third in the row, shop windows in Bjelovar were specially decorated with Czech costumes, some over 100 years old, Czech crystal, old dishes and appliances, tools used in the house and in the field, etc.
Performances of singing and dancing groups of the Czech Beseda Rijeka added to this event. The city echoed with sounds of Czech music for two days, and Czech women baked traditional pastry and sweets for all people of Bjelovar and their visitors to taste in the central gazebo in city park.
Brass bands from Daruvar and Predavec played during costumed parade, majorettes from Daruvar and dance group "Srdecko" showed their skills. Members of horse riding club "Pegaz" from Bjelovar and children dressed in traditional costumes were also in the parade. The guests of Czech people of Bjelovar were members of Czech Beseda Daruvarski Brestov brass band.
"Srdecko," women's choir "Kateriny" from Bjelovar, and Czech Beseda Rijeka members participated in the final evening program on Saturday night. Performances of dance group "Rijecke Ribice," mixed singing group "Nostalgia" and the Adult group of dancers were very successful and well received by the audience. A plentiful dinner and party after the program proved once again the friendship of the Czech people of Rijeka and Bjelovar, and that their cooperation benefits all of them.
