Amateur Theatre
The theatre group of Czech Beseda Rijeka has about fifteen members. In its lifetime, this group has acted eleven plays directed by Fanika Husak. The last, 12th play was directed by Željko Milde.
Teachers from the Czech Republic (Z. Steckerová, B. Šolcová) and directors from well-known Czech amateur theatres (V. Dìdek, J. Strejcovský) often helped rehearse and direct the plays.
Our amateur actors have participated in all Czech amateur theatre festivals in Croatia. Twice they were among the three best performances on this festival, and performed for the national selector who selected plays for the national festival on Vis. This group often acts on stages of other Czech Besedas in Croatia, located mostly near Daruvar, and several times it acted in the Czech Republic.
While rehearsing theatre performances some actors, who do not speak Czech language very well, actually learn Czech or perfect their pronunciation. The amateur theatre of Croatian Czech is becoming a very important element in preserving their native (Czech) tongue.
