T. G. Masaryk Czech Home – Culture Center of the Czech people in Rijeka
T. G. Masaryk Czech Home in Rijeka opened on September 19, 2009, on the same day Czech Beseda Rijeka celebrated its 15th anniversary. Its construction took five years. Over 300 guests attended the opening ceremony.
So far, over 6.4 million Croatian Kunas were invested in the building. The City of Rijeka co-financed it with 1.96 million Kuna, Croatian Government with 1.05 million, Czech Republic gave 754,900 Kuna, Primorsko-goranska County 700,000 Kuna, Czech Union in Croatia 510,000 Kuna, and Croatian Natinal Minorities Council 470,000 Kuna. Czech Beseda Members and their many friends and supporters participated with 700,000 Kuna, and the rest was financed from donations given by individuals, local governments and associations, and everyone who recognized the importance and value of the building.
Mrs. Grazia Triccoli, owner of company "Tiora," made the project for the building and supervised the construction.
The Home has 1052 square meters of useful indoor area on three floors. It is built on a plot of 1500 square meters. On the ground floor there are dressing rooms, costume storage, laundry wash and ironing room, two small kitchens, toilets, storages, restaurant and rehearse room. The first floor consists of the entry hall / exhibition room, main stage hall, library and toilet with access for the disabled. Bedrooms, offices, and two bathrooms are located on the second floor.
