This year's Days of Czech culture were launched in the Czech Home with promotion of the fifth book of poems by Herta Tadic "The Sea" and a cultural program by Czech Beseda Rijeka singers, dancers and theatre group. Czech language students from primary school Podmurvice were also presented.
Saturday had a very rich program, with diverse events in which Czech people presented their activities and a part of Czech culture to the people of Rijeka.
In the presence of Rijeka Mayor Vojko Obersnel, Czech Ambassador in Croatia Martin Kosatka opened the exhibition "Czech Cities and Monuments Under UNESCO Protection." At the same time, numerous visitors can see an exhibition of traditional handcrafts and Czech glass and ceramics.
The presentation of "posviceni" (the celebration marking the end of works in the field) tradition, habits and food preparation followed. The cultural program featured young dancers of CB Rijeka and their guests - dancers and singers from Prekopakra and Gornji Daruvar.
Dinner was traditional so guests could sample the many Czech dishes, cakes and sweets prepared for end of harvest feasts. The evening ended with entertainment and dancing.
