traditional harvest festival "Dožinky" was held on Saturday, July 19,
in the town of Kaptol. It was organized by the Czech Union in Croatia and Czech
Beseda Kaptol, under the patronage of the Croatian Ministry of Culture.
It was a
grand celebration of all Czechs living in Croatia and their guests, a plethora
of songs, dances, music and colors with which Croatian Czechs traditionally
celebrate not only the end of the harvest season. It was also, as always, an
overview of cultural and especially folklore activities in efforts to maintain
performers participated in Harvest Parade and evening folklore program, members
of thirty Czech associations in 24 dance and 19 music groups, with 14 floats,
decorated tractors, horses... Manifestation was viewed by over 200 guests from
Croatia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, and a big audience. There was also the
traditional Czech fair, an exhibition of all previous harvest festivals held in
Kaptol, and the bilingual Holy Mass.
the Czech Beseda Rijeka also participated, both in the parade and in the
evening folklore program, in which the girls' dance group Ráček performed.
